Director of Sales
Peaceable Kingdom, a publisher of children’s cards, stickers, and games is looking for a Sales Leader to help us transform our well-respected, growing brand into a household name in children’s products.
Ideal candidate is a stellar manager with solid experience in the toy or gift industry. Someone who has proven national account success, who thinks strategically, is a roll-up-your-sleeves, get-down-to-work problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit and a commitment to a personal level of excellence.
We are looking for someone who is creative in his or her approach to sales, who is willing to take risks, and who has the experience and drive to be a self-motivated leader. The perfect candidate must be professional, enthusiastic, responsible, and ambitious.
Job Summary:
- Provide leadership and coordination of company sales and marketing functions
- Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies, and monitor and analyze those strategies against goals
- Manage an independent rep sales force
- Develop new key account business and grow current key account business
- Build and develop an outstanding internal sales and customer service team
- Work closely with management team in a business development capacity to strategize the growth of the company
Position reports to the President and is located in Berkeley, CA.
Primary Responsibilities:
Create short- and long-term strategic plans in conjunction with overall company vision and implement those plans on time and on budget
Manage and mentor an existing Sales Department of 3 individuals in 2 locations and build a Sales Department as needed, including hiring, training, mentoring, recruitment, and retention
Manage an established independent rep force of 150 individuals
Personally handle a select group of national key retail accounts and identify and pursue new appropriate national key account business
Develop international sales
Analyze and evaluate sales, costs, methods, and make changes based on results
Represent the company externally at tradeshows, conferences, trainings, etc.
With management team, set policies to shape direction and position the company for steady profitable growth for years to come

Minimum 6 years in a consumer packaged goods environment at a senior level

All games should be:
- Cooperative in nature
- Developed with the specialty retail marketplace in mind, which includes gift stores, toy stores, bookstores, and more
- The age range of the games should be in one of these subsets: toddler (18 months-3 years); preschool (3-5 years); school age (5-8 years); family games (8+)
